My First Chinese New Year (CNY 2007) & “Chap Goh Mei” in K.Lumpur……………….

-->
On the 18th February 2007 (Sunday)……………. It was the 1st day of the Chinese Lunar Month, means the first day of the Chinese New year and also the year of the rat. On this vary occasion I was not too happy because it was my first Chinese New Year away from home, when I can see all my friends and house maid can go back celebrating the CNY at their home town and I was left alone at K.Lumpur, I felt very sad about it………… what can I do and to bring me together with my family on this special occasion………….

During the night before Chinese New Year………… on the 17th February 2007, after work at the restaurant and on the way back, I drop by Sungai wang as there were mid night sales going on , just to fulfill the Chinese custom of buying a new pair of shirt, Jeans, shoes  and etc…..
I buy only one set of new wear because I know that, I don’t even have a time to wear it…………………On the way back home, I drop by a small restaurant to buy “YeeSang “or dish of prosperity in Chinese, for one person is only Rm10.00 so it’s quite fair the price, I also “Tapau” a mix vegetable and of course a quarter of roast chicken and the bill come up to Rm35.00. For a new year dinner is quite reasonable.

Note: Stephen Chow - God of cookery
When I reach home………… I put the food on the table and cook some rice, be for taking my shower …… after shower it was 11.30pm and I took my dinner, while watching T.V……. tonight was the movie by Stephen Chow the God of Cookery at NTV7………. After dinner I go to the veranda to witness the fireworks and the firecracker …….. it was quite amusing………..
On the first day itself…….. I went to work by monorail…….. the monorail was empty not like the usual busy day in K.Lumpur and the town was totally dead like ghost town…… well for my surprise the restaurant was on an heavy reservation and I was put in charge alone as all my superior and head of restaurant are all on leave and only be back by the 5th day of the CNY celebration…… well for me to encounter 500 – 1000 pax of customer per day  till the 4th day, it was not that easy at all but with the strong team of Myanmar boys it was just like a chicken feet to me and all of them….. I can say when it comes to “TEAM WORK” it really means “TEAM WORK”…… I can really put my head off to them………… no way our Malaysian People will perform like them….. and “TEAM WORK” really in their “Dictionary”………………
The difficulty and problem arise when I was been attack by all the VIP during the night operation and even make matter worse…………. When the “Royal Family” arrive without reservation…… as many of the main Japanese Restaurant are fully book and Chinese Restaurant are close for a couple of days during this festive occasion……… well it is hard to organize and accommodate all at once…….. Pity for the Royal Family as they have to wait for table at the VIP section………. But I felt very good to make some of the VVIP’s and VIP’s wait more than 45munites even they have reservation and they are late……… this is the only time I can “TELL THEM OFF” punctuality is important……… as many of us Malaysian will always delay time and never be punctual during any occasion………. Even some of the VVIP’s are trying to rise up their voice at me…… and my respond to them is “Datuk if you are late for a trip will the plane wait for you………. And because of your lateness all the passenger and schedule are delayed” is that fair Datuk?

So from now on I am in charge of usher………….. and I make them wait how nice……. My principle is that, when we have “Q” system but many of the VVIP’s and VIP’s will never follow, at this moment it reflects me when I was in Kuching, many years back. When me and Dad when to apply for our “New MyKad” at the NRD Kuching……………. A VIP Daughter came for the same purpose……… and she is much latter than us and even some people who are earlier than us, but the VIP Daughter got the privilege to be the first to be serve and never follow the “Q” system…….. Is this fair to the other who is there even earlier than us………. I and Dad don’t mind to wait because we have plenty of time to do so……..”Only the dead have no time or no more time to be spare for“ may be this particular groups of VVIP’s and VIP’s  family member are like the DEAD people have no more time to spare………………… Well “HOMOSAPIAN” are like that after they got the special privilege for them self they will just miss use of all the privilege, until vary inconvenience to the General Public…… this are the groups of people who are vary “KIASU” just like our fellow “HOMOSAPIAN”  from our neighboring  country……………….
Well back to my story…………. After getting all of them in and they want special service……. I told them only the “ROYALTY” will get the service, they even more unhappy, for me who cares who are you……… even the Royalty, I make them wait………..for me I rather serve the Royalty Family and they are not as fussy as the normal “TAN SRI & DATUK” outside………… even the Tengku ask me why I don’t serve the other VIP outside………. My answered to him is that they are not worth to be serve and the way they act just now is not welcome in our Malaysian lifestyle………… as for the Tengku he just smile………. For me I am to be able to bully them………
As for my surprise, how my boss and the head chef praise me for my job well done and how I handle the unwelcome VIP’s group and the Royal Family………………. I wonder how the hell he knew about it…… it was from the CCTV at the main entrance and I did not notice my boss came in by the back entrance….. he was monitoring me and all of us from the CCTV at his office.  After closing of the restaurant he invited me and my head chef to have supper at Jalan Alor….. well he go with his P.A and me with Chef Tambi….. after the supper Chef Tambi sent me back home……… at home is just like vary quiet and I on the player to listen to some song while doing my laundry and taking my shower……… be for ending my day……….

During the absent of all the in charge and head of restaurant……….. I have built up the respect from my boss, the chef and all the operation crew on me in very short time like in “One Week”………….for me I don’t expect they will be so respect on me and my way of handling situation at times…………. As when it comes to work it means work and no bull shit around…….. as time they will call me “TIGER ONG” hahahaha…… but I like the name and until some of my regular customer also refer me as “TIGER ONG” because at times when I am serious with work and dealing with problem they will never see me smile and most of the boys doesn’t dare to communicate with me and that is how the regular customer get to know my nickname………. Hahahahahahaha

Note: The chap goh mei festival.......
The 15th Day of Chinese New Year……………. Is the last day of the CNY and also the Lantern Festival, How times fly as now already the last day, at the restaurant it was just like normal and this day nobody off because is a Sunday………. And the management would not allow leave on Sunday……… so all the HOD (Head of Department) is around…………. Well work as normal……… after working and during the closing there was a quarrel between the kitchen Asst. Chef and The Floor Supervisor………… is a funny one because is only a small mater and everything got fire up because no one like the “SUPERVIOSR” anyway. Well for me I practice M.Y.O.B (Mind your own business) and go my clearing with the other staff and after clearing punch the card and say good bye to everyone and I go home. While on the way home I tapau some yeesang as this is the last day of CNY…………. Is a must for the last day hahahahahahahah….
At home now……. All my house mate is back and most of them are at home so I put the tapau at my room and make sure that no one “CURI MAKAN” ……….. hahahahahahaha…….. Happy CNY 2007 to all of you guys out there………..
